MANKATO — The Rochester Honkers’ game against the Mankato MoonDogs turned dramatic when Chris Auten hit a three-run homer in the sixth inning that eventually sent the game into extra innings. But the game wasn’t completed because the lights on the field went out at 11 p.m., during the 13th inning, due to an automatic timing mechanism.
The game, which was tied 4-4, was suspended. It will be resumed next week before a June 3 game in Mankato at 7:05 p.m.
The Honkers return to action at 7:05 p.m. Saturday at Green Bay. Jared Jordan is the probable starting pitcher for Rochester.
PRESTON — The trial of accused killer Jack Willis Nissalke has been delayed until at least Wednesday. The jury went to the courtroom today expecting to hear opening statements, but then learned of the delay from Fillmore District Judge Robert Benson.
The only thing Benson divulged to the jury was that “there’s an issue that has to be taken care of before the trial.”
Before the jury was seated in the courtroom, prosecuting attorney Chuck MacClean told the judge that he had filed an appeal asking the Minnesota Court of Appeals to consider a writ of prohibition.
Nissalke is accused of killing Ada Frances Senenfelder, who was found stabbed to death in her Winona home in June 1985. After re-examining DNA evidence found at the scene, prosecutors filed murder charges in June 2008.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Daniel Hauser, the 13-year-old cancer patient whose mother took him on the run from the law to shield him from chemotherapy, is feeling sick after a second round of the treatment his family later agreed to. The Hauser family reported in a news release today that Daniel, who underwent the chemotherapy Thursday at Children’s Hospitals and Clinics, spent today back at the family’s Sleepy Eye home and “is not tolerating the drugs well and has been vomiting all day.” Nauseau and vomiting are common side effects of chemotherapy.
“Danny has had a horrible day, he’s felt terrible all day long,” said Jim Navarro, a Texas man now serving as the family’s spokesman. “He’s not happy.”
Daniel, who has Hodgkin’s lymphoma, underwent an initial round of chemotherapy in January but resisted later treatments after reporting bad side effects. The family believe in natural medicine treatments with roots in American Indian healing.
