BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — A man was struck and killed while trying to cross a highway near the Mall of America in Bloomington.

The Minnesota State Patrol say the 23-year-old man was running from the east side of Highway 77 to the west side around 5 p.m. Thursday. He made it across the northbound lanes, but was hit by a southbound minivan.

KSTP-TV (http://bit.ly/H2vgV9 ) says the van driver, a 49 year-old Bloomington woman, wasn’t injured.

The accident is under investigation.
