Wolves shut Love down for rest of season

MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Timberwolves are shutting All-Star forward Kevin Love down for the final two games of the regular season to play it safe while he recovers from a concussion.

The Wolves made the announcement on Sunday before they hosted the Golden State Warriors. Love has not played since suffering a concussion and strained neck against Denver on April 11.

The team’s leading scorer and rebounder has passed all of his concussion tests and been cleared to play by the NBA. But coach Rick Adelman says the Wolves felt it best not to risk further injury to the new face of the franchise.

Love is fourth in the league with 26 points per game and second in rebounding with 13.3 per game.
