HASTINGS, Minn. (AP) — A Lakeville boy has seen his father for the first time since the man abandoned him last summer.
Eleven-year-old Sebastian Cross appeared Wednesday at a child-protection hearing. Through his attorney, the boy told the court he wants to stay in foster care with his great-aunt.
Also attending was 60-year-old father Steven Cross. Cross left Minnesota last July when their house was lost in foreclosure and drove to California. He left behind letters telling the boy to go to a neighbor’s house and asking the family to become his son’s guardian. Sebastian later moved in with a great-aunt who is a licensed foster parent.
The St. Paul Pioneer Press (http://bit.ly/IKp1FR) reports a plan adopted by juvenile court would place Sebastian permanently with his mother and eventually reunite him with his father.
