DFL activist/Librarian

Rochester resident since 1981. Married to Dottie. Two children. Episcopalian. Historic S.W. Neighborhood Assoc. board member. Olmsted Co. DFL executive board member. 25-year city employee & V-P of AFSCME Local 319. Uhh—Settle down, Jeremy.

That was just (self-styled) “Patriot” sharing a rare glimpse of his “sense of humor.”

Judging from his many less than complementary comments re Franken (who, after all, is in the U.S. Senate & not eyeing higher office), and those of us hated “leftists” who post locally, I’m pretty darn certain that Liberalism is Not part of Patriot’s..`er Diagnosis.

    More extreme (odious) distractions; e.g.:
[CREW is] “hateful socialist thugs” & “Pelosi rally (was) for death care reform.”

One wonders what words he keeps in reserve for really bad guys/orgs…

And let’s see now—What was this wire-service article about?

Oh yeah—Michelle Bachman’s alleged ethics violations.

Maybe she did/perhaps she didn’t violate same; but you will Never hear from this bunch that there’s any possibility their up-&-coming Palin sidekick from MN—and dependable wingnut loose cannon—could have erred.

If SHE, or Palin, are the great, wacky electoral hopes for the GOP, I wish them well in the Political Wilderness.

    Et tu, Brutum fulmen.

And to All local neoCon practicioners of “argumentum ad nausean” I add:

Ix-nay the upid-stay (and non-relevant) GOP talking points designed to trash such fine public servants as Tim Walz.

As usual, Atilla’s OUTRAGEOUS “IN YOUR FACE!” INNUENDO is Way-y-y-y Off Base, nor based on something which the rest of us (Non-screaming, carbon-based life forms)call FACT.

Besides, he totally ignores that these are at this point merely r-e-c-o-m-m-e-n-d-a-t-i-o-n-s (Not mandates) to the larger medical community; and will probably take months for those real professionals to examine & pass informed judgement on.

As even He probably knows, the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force is the leading independent panel of private-sector experts in prevention and primary care.

The USPSTF conducts rigorous, impartial assessments of the scientific evidence for the effectiveness of a broad range of clinical preventive services, including screening, counseling, and preventive medications. Its recommendations are considered the “gold standard” for clinical preventive services.

The mission of the USPSTF is to evaluate the benefits of individual services based on age, gender, and risk factors for disease; make recommendations about which preventive services should be incorporated routinely into primary medical care and for which populations; and identify a research agenda for clinical preventive care.

Let cooler heads consider that few new proposals in medicine are greeted w/o suspicion & opposition.

While some of that is certainly appropriate, we often see ridicule by those political opportunists who can’t be bothered by scientific fact & research.

Thanks Liz for a great letter.

The Know-Nothing supporters of the Party of No (Health Reform, or just about Any Thing that doesn’t benefit Them) have nothing more to offer but their endless ridicule, which is of Zero value.
