  • School referendum could be in Rochester's near future

    It’s not always about money. By insisting on better and less-polarizing leadership we *are* supporting the students. And by the way, if you go back to the PB’s original endorsement of the current Superintendent over the other equally-qualified candidate, the PB said that someone with kids in the system would have skin in the game; an attribute they viewed as important. So ... that the Superintendent’s family has not yet relocated *is* significant – not to me, I care more about his effectiveness than his geo—the PB, and many others, think it matters.

    I am taking a collection to buy a billboard promoting the referendum. I am thinking something catchy like this: “The Superintendent needs a chair to go with his $5000 desk. Please be generous. It’s for the kids. They’re our future.”

    Though rational people never believed it, the Obama campaign gave to the naive the impression that all woes would cease day-one of his presidency. That is what they believed and that is why they are disappointed. Bush’s favorite line was “it’s hard work,” Obama is now learning what Bush already knew. And so are Obama’s supporters. There are no magic solutions.
