Atmospheric conditions have far more to do with pollutants in Rochester or anywhere for that matter. If you put a dome of sinking air over anywhere in this country for an extended period of time, air will become stagnant and reach unhealthy levels according to the EPA. Air in the Midwest seldom reaches unhealthy levels because the weather is always changing. When weather repeats itself with day after day of sunshine (when was the last cloud spotted in Rochester?) and clear nights, a significant temperature inversion develops in the atmosphere and particulates settle in the lowest levels. It also doesn’t help that one of Rochester’s pollution sensors rests in one of the lowest areas of Rochester.
03/06/2010 8:57 AMTo me there is a big difference between charitable giving and forced taxation by government. It seems the two things are confused in this letter. Some taxation is necessary to provide infastructure such as highways, public safety, etc. However, government has an unnecessary spending problem. That to me is not very patriotic.
